My daughter asked me a question not long ago, and it got me thinking. We had just purchased a new water filter for our kitchen sink, and she asked me why we don’t have a water filter in the shower. I laughed it off at first, thinking to myself that kids think up the funniest things. However, I started thinking more about it, and it did seem like a valid question. I had no idea if a shower head filter even existed like the one for my kitchen sink, but I made it my mission to find out.
It did not take me nearly as long as I thought it would. It seems that a filter for the shower is something that other people are wondering about too. I had just assumed since most people don’t drink their shower water that a filter was not necessary. Nothing can be farther from the truth though. Just because shower water does not typically enter a person’s body through their mouth, it does not mean that it is not getting in there anyway. It is getting absorbed through the skin, and all of us do take some in through our mouths and noses.
If we are protecting ourselves from the same water in the kitchen, then we should be doing the same in the bathroom. When I showed the information to my husband, he agreed. He looked at the different filters available for the shower head, and he ended up getting one along with some replacement filters. We already knew about changing the filters after so many months, and we knew it would be the same for the one in our bathroom. I know that we cannot physically tell a difference ourselves, but our bodies are much happier now that they are not having to deal with the toxins from the shower water too.
